Mentorship Initiative
Mentorship Program
Over the past several years, Michigan has experienced significant turnover in volleyball coaching, with many new and younger coaches joining the profession. To support their development, the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association (MIVCA) offers a statewide mentorship program.
This initiative pairs experienced coaches with newer coaches to help build positive, supportive relationships throughout the season. Mentors provide guidance in key areas such as:
Season planning and practice ideas
Communication with players and parents
Team culture and leadership strategies
Volleyball-specific skills and systems
The program encourages connection and collaboration among coaches across the state, helping new coaches grow while strengthening the entire volleyball community. Through mentorship, we continue to enhance our impact on student-athletes and support the mission of MIVCA.
